Have you seen the new commercial that shows the guy trying to purchase an engagement ring with a trunk full of pennies. The jeweler will not accept the pennies for his purchase, and just sits there in disbelief that he is serious.
In today’s economy the jeweler was a fool not to have taken the customer’s pennies. It was a $3,000.00 sale and she blew it. My theory on the subject is that the sales person is obviously not he owner. No business owner would turn away any form of cash payment. Maybe she was thinking how in the world would she get all those pennies to the bank to deposit, and furthermore it would be way to much work. So instead of coming up with a creative solution that would have made the customer happy, and helped the business, she took the easy way out.
If you came to our business with a trunk full of pennies here is what we would have thought. First of all, any person that has put forth so much effort to collect all those pennies, load up the trunk and bring it in, and be frugal enough to offer them as payment, we would graciously assist them with their needs. A penny is still worth 1 cent. The government has not banned the coin and it will still spend just like the others. Whatever the customer might be wanting it must mean a lot to them to save their pennies.
Be penny wise. Save your pennies and you will always have money for a rainy day. Save your pennies and use them to plan your next event with us. We can show you how to spend them wisely, and have a wonderful event that you won’t still be paying for long after it’s over.
